Mamma

Goofy, silly, sweet, sassy MAMMA! What can we say about this funny girl 😂 she's an absolute charmer and attention-holic. Never have we seen a mommy cat nudge her own kittens out the way for tickles – she cannot get enough lovings ever 😂

Mamma used to live as a street cat at Fruit and Veg block 3… a rather dangerous amount of traffic to be around. She had given birth to her kittens a couple of weeks prior to a severe flood last year November. Mamma is a little bit of a ditz, she had left her babies in the drains to keep them safe and wandered off for lunch when the flood hit out of nowhere.

We rushed to help fish the babies out of the water… one of our most stressful rescue missions ever… a very stressed Mamma was helpless as her babies slowly started washing away. We managed to fish out 3 beautiful little kittens and rushed them into the fluffiest basket and put a rather chunky Mamma in with them. Mamma immediately began to clean and feed her little babies.

When the babies were old enough for solids we had a predicament. Mamma was not fit for release… in fact, one could argue that Mamma was always too bougie for the streets – she just didn't know how to get an invite into the adoption program 😂

After weeks of being doted on by her vet and being fed only the finest: Ecco… Mamma was not about to go back to street life. She made it clear, her and her babies were a package deal. And just like that, Mamma settled right in to the cattery.

As a not so typical tabby… Mamma has soft orange patches delicately growing amongst her striking stripes. Now THAT'S an interesting personality mix… tabby AND tortie cross?! You just know you're in for a fun time.

Mamma is a funny little chonk… very petite as she was a young mom. We aren't about to body shame, there's lots of Mamma to love… she's got a little wobble to her tummy and makes for the BEST snuggle buddy 😂

Mamma had to grow up too fast as life on the streets as an unspayed kitty means pesky boy cats all harassed her 😤 Now spayed and retired from breast feeding days, Mamma is basically ready to be her young self – free of the responsibilities of motherhood and thug life 😂
